Is your child not talking as much as their peers? Do you feel your baby should be making more sounds than they are?
As a parent, you are the expert in your child, culture, home, daily routine, etc. As a speech therapist, I am the expert in child speech and language development. It is important to work together to create an all-encompassing support team to ensure your child succeeds.
In Parent Consultations, I will give you explicit instructions on techniques (like the handout shown above) for you to incorporate into your daily routines making it feel fun and natural while also helping to develop your child’s speech and language skills.
What to expect in speech therapy parent consultation sessions
When kids are younger than three, it can be exhausting and tedious for them to sit through full speech and language evaluations, which can take two hours or more. It can also be hard for little ones to establish a rapport and gain trust and respect for another adult so that they are comfortable enough to try new sounds and words - this can take weeks. Thus, teaching the parents these strategies while your child is in this age range takes that time and stress out of the equation and allows you to start working with your child as soon as possible.
I will give you explicit instructions on techniques for you to incorporate into your daily routines making it feel fun and natural while also helping to develop your child’s language skills. Doing this in your natural environment ensures your child is comfortable and more likely to try new things (sounds, words, phrases, etc) and sets both you and your child up for success.
I want to empower you to help your child succeed in their speech and language development - in your own home, and on your own time.
